One of the things Mark and I talk about quite a bit are the Marriage 2.0 Intensives we have the opportunity to host at our home in Normal, IL. However, one of the questions we often get is, What happens at a marriage intensive?
Something that isn’t often talked about is the situation where you will never have an “empty nest.” The never-empty nest occurs when we have a child that is not able to leave the home or a child that needs care for the rest of their life. This reality can be so challenging to adjust to when you have to process (and grieve) that life may look different than you expected.
Our past, our upbringing, and our experiences in life don’t stay in the past. They are carried into our marriages and affect how we operate in our relationships.

In this episode, I’m joined by Craig Cooper. Craig and his friend, Walker Hayes, wrote a book on friendship called “Glad You’re Here: Two Unlikely Friends Breaking Bread and Fences.” It is a story about the unlikely journey of friendship between a pastor and an atheist. God often uses unlikely friendships to work in incredible ways and today Craig shares the value of face-to-face friendships in our lives.

Raising a daughter in today’s social-media-oriented, crazy world can be challenging! As our daughters grow up, we actually have some growing to do too. What does it look like for us to grow up and to love our daughters well? How can we grow ourselves to remain an emotionally-safe place for our girls? How can we lead them well through the hormone-charged pre-teen and teen years?
Joining me today is my long-time friend Suzie Eller, who is a podcast co-host, speaker, and ECPA bestselling author. She has written several books including her most recent book, Joykeeper: 6 Truths That Change Everything You Thought You Knew about Joy. She has also navigated some incredibly challenging circumstances in her life, and in this episode she openly walks us through the journey God has led her and her family on, and what she’s learned as a result.
Cheri Keaggy has been ministering through music for over 30 years. She’s an incredible songwriter and I think you’ll appreciate this conversation I had with her about how she has navigated deep loss, what it looks like to trust God in hard seasons, and the role music has played in her life journey.
