We’re going into several weeks of crazy here at the Savage’s. We’re heading to the Wisconsin Dells for a few days of vacation with my extended family in celebration of my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.
Then we’re home for a few days and Mark and I head to Nashville, TN, to speak at the MOPS convention.
Then we’re home a day, load a U-Haul, and head to Texas to move Erica into her new home just in time for her hubby to get home from Iraq.
While we’re gone, we have friends using our home for visiting relatives so I’ve got to get the house “company ready” before we leave. So glad we can share our home, but it takes just a little extra work to make that happen.
On top of it all, my laptop is broken so it’s going into the computer hospital to get fixed.
Needless to say, it will be a bit of a crazy few weeks. So I’m going to take my own advice:
1) Cut myself some slack.
2) Learn to say no.
3) Keep family first in everything.
That means I’m taking a blogging break starting next Monday, August 1. I’ll be re-posting some of my more popular posts for the three weeks of break. If you’ve just recently found my blog, you can enjoy some of the more popular posts you might not have seen. If you’ve been hanging around my blog for a while, you might catch something you didn’t get to read the first time.
It’s the last few weeks of summer and I’m going to enjoy them fully with my family. I’ll pick active blogging back up Aug 22. By then my boys will be in school, and I’ll be ready to jump back in after a time of refreshment!
Jesus modeled “pulling away from the crowds.” If he needed it, we certainly do, too!
I really needed your post today! Thank you! My family has seen a whole lot of crazy lately! Summer activity schedules and husband with a new job! This new season of busy activity with pre-teens and yet having a 6 year old has been challenging! I found myself missing toddler and preschool days last week! Your three tips were a fantastic reminder for me. I have chosen to be at at home mom for a reason, to keep my family first.
Thank you! And enjoy your time away!
Enjoy your busy time… we will miss you.. yet we will eagerly await your return.
a latte of blessings & giggles,

I’m a fairly new subscriber and am looking forward to the “best of!” Hope you have a fabulous break with your family.
By the way, wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could take a break from marriage and motherhood occasionally and run a “best of” in our absence? (Or if you asked my husband, he might request that during a particular few days of the month when I’m not my usual adorable self – ha! ) ; )
Yvonne…too funny! That would be a great thing to be able to do!
Wishing you a refreshing & rejuvenating break.
Praying for you and your family while y’all are out and about!
