I did something I’ve rarely done in my life on Saturday. I curled up with a book ALL DAY! I don’t think I’ve actually ever done that before. My daughter, Anne, was visiting and she had the “John and Kate plus 8” book Mixed Blessings. I started reading the book on Friday and then realized she would be leaving with the book on Saturday night. She was busy meeting with friends, the boys were playing well together, Erica was at work, Mark had his own projects going so I decided to just read, read, read! It was a good read actually.

Interestingly enough, one of the reasons they decided to do the television shows was because of her desire to make memories for her kids. She knew with 8 kids–6 of them all the same age–it would be extremely hard for them to regularly video tape and photograph the kids. Doing the show offered them the opportunity to remember the early years in a unique way. Goes right along with our theme this week, doesn’t it?

As promised here’s something from Anne’s journal. This is the first entry I made in her journal. She was five years old when I started her journal.

Dear Anne,

There are so many things that I want to remember, share, and express to you that I’ve decided to begin to write it down. Someday I hope you will appreciate and reflect upon it and even do the same for your children…

…Anne I want so much for you realize the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s not about going to church…it’s about knowing God! In order to know God and allow Him to guide you you must grow to love Him and spend time with Him. This didn’t begin with me until about 2 years ago and what a change it has made in my life, my attitudes, and the effectiveness of my ministry. I want to encourage you to seek this relationship in all stages of your life.

I love you!

Mom

Do you have a way that you are creating memories or sharing your heart with your children? We’d love to hear about it! I’ll draw a winner from all those who have shared on Tuesday!
