It’s “Indoor Picnic Day.” Have lunch or dinner sitting in the family room on a blanket.
You can also build a fort with blankets and have a campout.
If you have teens, consider a 1 day pass at a local gym or YMCA to swim indoors, play basketball, etc.
Thinking ahead: Have a couple of rolls of masking tape on hand for a future activity for younger school age kids.
Hi Jill! I visit a lot of blogs, but yours is one of the very few I follow. I have really benefitted from your ministry! I have three boys and all are too young for school, so I’m jotting down your 12 Days of Christmas ideas to use throughout the whole winter when we’re feeling “cooped up”. Last winter, the boys had “Beach Day” (all the fun stuff of a trip to the beach except for sand — I do have limits) in my jacuzzi tub and a living room campout (complete with flashlight activities and trail mix) that lasted for days. Just this morning I was thinking about theme days I could add this year. Your picnic idea just went to the top of my list. Thanks!
Emily, good for you! I’m glad the ideas are adaptable for your season of mothering!
