Christmas morning still starts early for us. It used to be 5 or 6am when the kids were little…now that they’re older we’ve managed to get them to sleep until 7 or 7:30am! We’ll get up and I’ll put the Rhodes cinnamon rolls in the oven (You put them in the oven frozen and they rise and cook all at the same time. Mmmmmm.) Then we’ll open presents…one at a time. This gives us the opportunity to see what each person gets and to savor the time together.
By the time we’re done opening presents, the rolls are finished and we’ll enjoy the warm treat. Then several of us will head back to bed! Naps are an important part of the day!
A nice, late lunch together—usually ham—will be a part of our afternoon. We often have a single friend or two who doesn’t live near family join us for lunch.
The rest of the day is spent playing games, taking another nap, watching a movie or two, watching family movies (we love pulling out the family movies!) and just enjoying each other.
What about you? What are your Christmas Day traditions?
Just like yesterday, I’ll give extra time for you to comment, Facebook, blog, or Twitter about this topic since most of us are family focused today. You can participate until midnight, Sunday, December 27.
