Where is it that you most experience connection? Whether it’s grabbing tea with a friend, sharing a meal with family, or even gathering together for a game night, there’s something so inviting and connecting about a table. It’s a place where community is formed, a meal can be shared, and where people gather to do more than just eat. Throughout the Bible, God uses tables to invite us into His presence.
My guest today is Dr. Lina Abujamra. Lina is a Pediatric Emergency Room doctor who now practices telemedicine full-time. She is also an author, Bible teacher, and oversees the ministry of Living with Power. Lina has made it her mission to ignite a passion for Jesus in the hearts of people and to help them experience His healing and the power of hope. Lina was born in Beirut, Lebanon, but now calls Chicago home (although she is a huge Green Bay Packers fan).
In this episode, you’ll hear:
- The interesting significance of tables through Scripture
- How communion is a reminder of our connection with God
- How to connect with God and our community
- And so much more…
I hope this conversation is nourishing for your soul!

My Key Takeaways:
1) God is good regardless of our circumstances. In the midst of the craziness of life, it can be difficult to feel that God is good. Lina reminds us of a story we see in Scripture where King David invited someone named Mephibosheth, who was permanently crippled, to have a seat at his table. In the same way, God is inviting us to experience His goodness.
2) We have a seat at the table. Tables are been a place of connection, refuge, and safety. Think of going back home to your parents’ table or grandparents’. It likely brings back memories of baking cookies, sharing your sorrows, and receiving comfort. The same is true of the table God is inviting us to—we have a permanent seat at His table!
3) Offer a seat to others. We have a unique opportunity to offer up community to others. We can make others aware of God’s goodness by offering them a seat at the table. Do you know someone who is weary? Beaten down? Or discouraged? You can offer them hope, rest, and comfort by opening up your home and giving them a seat at your table.
