I love Easter.
It is the cornerstone celebration of the Christian faith.
Sure, Christmas is pretty important, but if that baby boy didn’t die on the cross for you and for me, we would not have direct access to God each and every day. And we would not have salvation as we know it.
Easter is…
…new life.
…a fresh beginning.
…hope.
…God’s living truth.
…exciting!
…humbling.
…overwhelming.
Now that we’ve moved past the day on the calendar, I don’t want to move past Easter’s profound effect on my heart. I don’t want to forget the gift Jesus gave me on that cross.
What does Easter mean to you?
Easter to me means Life.
The ability to accept my failings and those of people around me.
To forgive myself and those around me.
The ability to laugh when I just want to fall apart.
The ability to appreciate that I have life even when my heart feels it is breaking.
The ability to keep going even when I feel like curling up in a ball and in the process see the the beauty in the world and people around me.
Life.
The possibilty of having strength even when I feel sapped of all energy.
I cry my way through every Easter service.
He gave me Life.
