So what happens when you come face-to-face with imperfection in your own life? Do you beat yourself up? Grow defensive? Maybe feel insecure?

We all have a story, and today I’m excited to share the story of my guest, Cindy Bultema. Once a young mom who suffered from alcohol and drug addiction, Cindy now is a passionate speaker, author, and Bible teacher of two Bible studies for women. She also is the Executive Director of GEMS, a non-profit ministry impacting the lives of thousands of girls worldwide.

Cindy truly has a life that has been transformed by God!

Today, she shares her messy story openly. We also explore God’s purpose for us and our kids, the challenge of accepting imperfections in motherhood (and life overall!), how we can eternally impact people in the routine of our day-to-day life, and the very real power of God’s Truth.

This is such a good one, and I’m so excited to share it with you! Listen in!

My Key Takeaways:

1) It’s never hopeless. Cindy shares, “There is no one too far gone from God’s amazing grace.” Particularly for parents, we want things for our kids and it’s hard to see them not want those things for themselves. But it’s always worth our prayers and our steady presence.

2) We underestimate the effect we can have on people in our day-to-day life. When we think of Jesus, we see that he saw people so well. He listened to them. He looked for them. In Cindy’s life, because someone was consistently present and intentional, she encountered Christ.

3) God’s Word has the power to truly transform. God’s Word says we are loved. Period. Full stop. I love Cindy’s statement that “Lies don’t stick to Truth-filled girls.” Isn’t it amazing what happens when we fully encounter the powerful Truth of our God?

4) You are THE perfect mom for your kids. God didn’t design you the way you are wired by mistake. God didn’t give you the kids He gave you by mistake. None of us are perfect moms, but each of us are the right mom for our kids! (Even in the empty nest years!)
