Yesterday was birthday day at the Savage’s. Our youngest, Austin, turned 12. My baby is getting awfully close to being a teenager!
Austin has consistently made one request for a birthday present. He wanted a bunny.
His older siblings had a two bunnies for several years so I could have easily done the “been there…done that” routine. But with the age span of our kids, we really have two families. The two youngest kids have not had the same experiences the three older kids had. Recognizing that, Mark and I are realizing that we need to offer some of those same experiences to the two younger boys.
So little black bunny “Spencer” is now a part of our family.
Can you see the joy on Austin’s face?
Happy birthday Austin! He just looks so happy with his new pet! I grew up in a family that had a big age gap as well (5 1/2 years between #3 ) & I think it's great you're intentionally making sure the younger ones have similair experiences to the elder ones – I often feel my 'baby' sisters missed out on a lot.
Its so true that in some families the older kids and the younger kids have different upbringings! I'm 11 & 15 years older than my youngest two siblings and let me just say things are alot different for them then they were for me and my sisters!
Good choice.
