As Christian parents, we do our very best to help our kids develop deep and lasting relationships with Jesus. However, despite our efforts, they will sometimes still choose to walk away from their faith. If you’re navigating this struggle with your own child, I want you to know that you are not alone and that this episode is for you.

Many parents are experiencing the pain of watching their children live life without Christ. Whether your son or daughter has been drawn away by the allure of a secular lifestyle, fallen into the wrong crowd, or simply turned away from the faith they claimed as a child, it can be difficult to know the best way to help them.

My latest guest understands this dilemma well. Laine Lawson Craft is a parenting expert, author, speaker, and host of the Warfare Parenting Podcast. She believes that the best place for parents to fight the battle for their wayward children is on their knees.

In this episode, you’ll hear:

  • Why prayer is not a last resort
  • How to place your child in the Lord’s hands
  • The importance of tending to your own heart
  • And more!

Whether your children are still at home or out on their own, it’s never too early to start covering them in prayer!

My Key Takeaways:

1) The BEST thing you can do is pray. When it comes to wayward children, we as parents can often fall into the trap of treating prayer as a last resort. In reality, prayer is the best response we can have. It should be one of the very first things that we do. Prayer is powerful, and when we lift our words up to the Lord, we are helping in the spiritual battle that is being waged over our child.

2) We may not be the instrument of restoration. As parents, we want to be on the frontlines of bringing our children back to faith. While there is nothing we wouldn’t do for our children, God’s plan may be to use other people to minister to our children’s hearts. The Lord uses many people to influence our children; some may be there to plant a seed, others to water it, others to fertilize it, and when the time is right, He will send someone to harvest the crop.

3) Every day counts! It may seem as though nothing is changing or that it isn’t worthwhile to lift your child up in prayer each day, but that isn’t true! You never know what is happening behind the scenes or how God is working to redeem your child. It is crucial that we invest in praying for our child daily.
