It’s Tuesday’s Real Moms…Real Jesus Chapter 12 Discussion! This particular chapter is a personal favorite of mine. I love being reminded that God is so much bigger than what we can imagine and he has far more resources than we give Him credit for.
Perspective: There’s Never Enough Money, Time, or Me to Go Around?
I’m betting that most of us could agree with that statement! It often feels there’s never enough to go around. And sometimes we’re right. We will never be enough and sometimes we don’t have enough. But God is enough. He’s into the “loaves and fishes” opportunities in our lives when we have a meager offering that he can make into so much more!
- When have you seen God work a “loaves and fishes” story in your life?
- Have you ever considered that really you and I live with “more than enough” compared to most of the rest of the world?
Chapter 12: Jesus Trusted: The Truth About Faith
The Bible tells us that faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1). Being certain of what we do not see is quite a challenge for most of us! Jesus trusted God and He gave us the example of daily faith.
- What were your thoughts when you read the story at the beginning of the chapter about God providing Anne’s car? Have you ever considered that God still works miracles today? Why or why not?
- Have you ever experienced having a front-row seat at watching God work? Can you share the story?
- Are there any challenges you are facing now where you need to turn fear into faith? How can we be praying for you on this?
I loved your perspective about the miracle God does in your life is giving your insight to see things differently. I know I'm blessed, but I need to realize I do have enough. And God will take care of me.
We're in the process of adopting a second child. It's a very different process from our first adoption, and one of the ways that difference will be noticeable will be the amount of money we'll pay. We've been applying for grants, raising money and trying to be creative about our options. A friend said to me, "I can't wait to see how God works. It's really exciting you're giving him that chance." It's so true. An so far, that's been my attitude. My prayer is I won't get freaked out by the numbers I see and that I'll continue to trust God.
So reading about Anne's car was an encouragement to me. God does indeed provide. And just look at your adoption story too!
The best front-row seat I had to watching God work was with our first adoption in 2007. God led us to a birthmom and the process was such a blessing. After experiencing some infertility issues, I had a peace I hadn't experienced in quite some time. Then I realized while I was going through that, God was already orchestrating the details of our baby girl. It was a private adoption, so the financial strain wasn't what this one is going to be, going through an agency, but God provided life-changing lessons about peace and faithfulness that I'm so thankful to have learned.
Thanks for writing this chapter!

Thanks for sharing! My prayer is that you will keep your eyes on the Mountain Mover and not on the mountains.
Jill, this is my first ever visit to your blog. I am having a front row seat watching God work RIGHT NOW! When you get a chance please read how the Lord orchestrated our most current adoption! Here is the link: http://bakerssweets.blogspot.com/2009/03/our-red-thread-journey.html
Honestly, all of our adoptions have been situations where we are watching God do His marvelous work. However, this current adoption… GOD IS SO BIG AND SO GOOD!

Hey! Do I have a story about how God worked in our lives this week! We were on vacation, or on our way to vacation, and had car trouble. From our neighbor helping us in the morning, to the tow truck that "just happened" by our way, to the parts store being open on a holiday weekend and having the right part (last one too), to the hotel lady having mercy on me with my kids and dog to let us in with no ID or money (hubby was coming with it after he got the car taken care of), to the guy that could install it for us on his way to another job–on a holiday, to finances–all of that was less than we paid to replace the part before AND it was just what we had saved for our vacation so we didn't get into any debt in the process (we are in the middle of Dave Ramsey debt reduction too). Is God good or what!
Loved your stories of God's faithfulness in this chapter.
