We don’t have the pleasure of living near our extended family. And it seems that every time we get to see our family, it is because we have a family event to attend or some other functional purpose. At the beginning of the summer I proposed a “Family Fun Day” where we would just enjoy spending the day together with family playing softball, sitting on the porch, and letting the kids run in the sprinklers.

So today was the day and someone forgot to tell the weatherman! But we had a good time in spite of the 60 some degree weather and the rain. We started the day off with a family couple’s wedding shower for Kendall and Erica. Anne and Erica worked yesterday to bake and decorate a cake for the shower. Then today, we enjoyed visiting with family, playing ping pong, and eating a spread of summer food like brats, burgers, and corn on the cob.
