Today's Opportunity Plan Day 18In this unique season of family , we have the opportunity to be intentional about our self-care, our relationships, and even taking care of the home we live in.

Sometimes we need a little vision, though. A plan. Some ideas that get us heading in the right direction.
If you missed my introduction to “Today’s Opportunity Plan,” you can find it here.

Here’s Day 18:

Your soul:

Read Psalms 40:1-3. When you’re feeling down, this is a great go-to verse to think on.

You:

Read something for YOU today. Another chapter in a book you started or a magazine that’s been sitting there for a while that you just haven’t been able to get to. Ready for a new book?  I recently updated and categorized my Amazon store–you’ll find all kinds of good reads I recommend there!

Marriage:

Do a check in today. “How are we doing with our quarantine circumstance? Is there anything we need to adjust to how we’re handling things? Is there any way we can better help each other?”

Kids:

Everyone outside for 15 minutes minimum each day.

Today is April Fools Day. Tonight serve dinner backwards. Dessert first, then main dish, then salad or appetizer (I know you probably don’t do “courses” in a meal everyday, but go with it!) Act like this is completely normal. At some point in the meal, exclaim “April Fools!” You’ll surprise your family for sure!  (Got teens? Put them in charge of making dessert today–just don’t tell them you’re serving it first!)

Exercise:

Punch an imaginary punching bag twenty times today with each arm. This is a great one to get the kids involved in!

House/Homemaking

Where do you keep your games? On a shelf? In a closet? Today’s a great day to organize them. You’ll probably find a game you or the kids had forgotten about, so pull that off the shelf and play it after you’re done organizing the games!

Clothes:

I’m betting there’s another load of laundry screaming to be done! Wash + Dry + Folded + Put away = Done  (Remember to use a timer for each part of the process so you don’t forget!)
You’ve got a unique opportunity today! Use it well!
