Has your life been turned upside down? Are you walking through hardship? Do your future plans feel completely shaken up? If so, you may be in the midst of what I like to call a “life quake”. A life quake is what happens when our circumstances change drastically, and suddenly, we find ourselves in a whole new season of life we may not have been expecting.
Regardless of your age or situation, life quakes happen. When they do, we have to learn how to look forward rather than back. Joining me for an enlightening conversation on this topic is Tracie Miles. Tracie is a best-selling author, the director of COMPEL Writers Training at Proverbs 31 Ministries, and the founder of the Living Unbroken Divorce Recovery Program.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
- What it means to embrace God’s plan, even when it’s not what you envisioned
- Why moving forward even when you’re afraid is the key to building confidence
- How you have the power to reshape your life through intentional action
- And so much more!
I hope you are encouraged and find these tips helpful in navigating life’s quakes!

My Key Takeaways:
1) God’s plan for our life remains intact. When we encounter life quakes, it can feel like all of our plans are thwarted. While things may not always turn out how we hoped they would, our lives will always follow the path that God has planned for us. God is not surprised when our lives suddenly take a U-turn or our circumstances change entirely! His plan is always in motion no matter what, and we can take comfort in knowing that His plan is good.
2) Learn how to take positive steps in the right direction. Before we can look forward, we have to start by grieving what we have lost. Once we have done this, we can start to shift our mindset to look ahead. During this process, it’s important to be aware of potential stumbling blocks we may encounter, such as fear, anxiety, and the unknown. All of these factors can keep us stuck in a rut of looking back at the past, but overcoming them is the key to moving forward into a brighter tomorrow.
3) Embrace new beginnings. Transitions are a gift that allows us to break free from the past. While it may not seem like it at the moment, there are so many better days waiting for you ahead. Embracing new beginnings means letting go of the past and holding on to the hope of all the blessings our lives could hold in the future. During this transition phase, it’s important to set fresh goals and try new things rather than to wallow in what could have been.
