My kids have started school this week. Kolya is a freshman and Austin is in the 8th grade. Next week Austin turns 13. He’s my baby!
Last night Austin said he didn’t want me to tuck him in anymore. (Tonight he told me the same thing, but 10 minutes later he changed his mind—it’s so hard to grow up!)
Anybody else struggling with their kids growing up faster than you want them too?
My college age daughter is a senior this year and when she left for school this last week, it hit me (hard) that she is really close to leaving us 'for good' — and that this was likely her last long stretch at home. I cried as we saw her out and emotionally am struggling with this part of our lives coming to an end. All endings mean beginnings, but this one doesn't feel sweet just yet….
Jill,
We are there with you as well. Our 10 year old daughter is still insisting each night that her night time ritual with dad tucking her in and play the tickle game continues. However hubby after a long day at work and catering to helping out around the house and keeping the kids entertained, likes to wind down. He is wishing it would come to an end but I have to remind him that one day it will and then he will wish he still had those opportunities to tuck her in.
They always grow up too fast. We have two more years with our oldest and then who knows where God will take her.

Jill-
My daughters are 4 and 7. I always pray that I will use my time with them well, because I can already see how fast it is going. And I have a hard time already as they are getting older, I can't imagine what it will be like later.

Hi Jill –
My husband and I and 3 girls (Danielle and twins Lily and Ally) met you last week at the church block party…and I just wanted to tell you when I got your blog e-mail this morning Danielle saw the little picture of you at the top and said "Hey – that's the lady from the jumping". So I thought that was neat that she recognized you from that!
Hope you have a great weekend!

YES!!! my oldest is 11 and she this summer moved from training bra to young girl bra and now wants to shave!!! Agh- I am putting that off as long as possible- she is not ready for this daunting task she think she is but her hair on her legs are still blonde she can deal alittle longer but the internet says 11yrs is when girls start. it is very hard- because they so want to grow up and we so not want them to LoL
I'm with you, girlfriends! You are not alone!
Lauren,
That's amazing that Danielle recognized me from the block party. She's going to be one that remembers faces well!
Ummm … yes! We have literally watched our 5 littles grow inches this summer. People who see them every other week or so are noticing the difference, too! We're seeing them grow in maturity as well and for the first time ever, I have no toddlers, preschoolers, or 4-k'ers. They are all school kids. A great season of life. I notice it's just as much work as when they were babies, though. Instead of the physical requirements of chasing toddlers, I've been given mental requirements. They have such grown up ideas and want to voice them to me often. A good thing, but mentally taxing to hear and keep up with their dreams of "grown up life" daily. I can't wait to see what God actually makes of them as grown ups.
Yep. I'm there! I have 7 kids and our son is fixing to start his freshman year at home (this will be our 10th year of homeschooling). We have 6 girls too and our oldest is 12. Our next oldest girl is going to be 11 soon…..and we have lots of birthdays this winter….*sigh*. I wish they didn't have to grow up so fast. I wish that the sun would just stand still so I could acclimatize myself to this growing up thing!
I'm with ya!
