Are you feeling like you’re at the end of yourself? Does it feel like there’s not enough of you to go around? Do you sometimes feel like you’re not able to find success in each area of your life? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you might be experiencing burnout. And if you are, you’re not alone!

Here’s the good news: Today’s podcast guest knows the way out of burnout.

Friends, this conversation is incredible. Deanna Mason is the host of the Refreshed Moms Podcast and Creator of the Refreshed Moms App, where she helps mom entrepreneurs exchange an over-committed lifestyle with one filled with rest.

You see, Deanna had her own experience with burnout.

She had built an incredibly successful business (while she was homeschooling her young children!) before she started to experience extreme exhaustion, forgetfulness, and fatigue. She would lock her keys out of her car. She never had enough energy. She struggled to focus. And this experience ultimately led her to close the business so she could step back and focus on her family.

In this episode, we talk about what leads to burnout, how to cope with performance-orientation, prioritizing rest in our lives, how to effectively be a mom and an entrepreneur, and why women struggle with over-functioning in so many areas of our lives.

This one will refresh your soul, and I can’t wait to hear what your takeaways are! Listen in!

My Key Takeaways:

1) Sometimes we can get so caught up in busyness that we lose sight of the goals for our family. This is unique for each family. For Deanna, she and her husband always had a goal to homeschool their kids while they were young. As she was registering her kids for their second year of school, she had a “stake in the ground” moment where she realized she had lost sight of that goal.

2) Moms who are entrepreneurs can’t compare themselves to entrepreneurs who aren’t moms. You can’t build a business or ministry the same way and keep up with them. They don’t have kids building legos under their desk while they’re working. They have the 40+ hours a week to give. This doesn’t mean you can’t successfully be a mom and an entrepreneur, but it does mean that your realistic pace and margin are not the same.

3) As women, we tend to over-function in our spaces and commitments. Whether it’s for our home or our work, we tend to take on more ownership than we need to. This can lead us to frustration with the people around us, but it’s often because we didn’t take the time to ask for what we need, bringing them into what’s in our mind.
