Does life ever feel like it’s more than you can handle? Do you realize that hard seasons tend to be where we fight to maintain control? Do you know that learning to “let go” will actually bring about better blessings in the midst of difficult circumstances?

If COVID-19 has taught us anything so far, it’s that we are not in control. When life gets hard, aspects of the future are uncertain, and we’re at the mercy of other’s decisions, we want more power over the situation. This is actually when we need to learn to let go which is opposite of what we feel like doing!

Let’s face it, sometimes there are problems in life that can’t be fixed no matter what we do. The more we learn to surrender control, the more peace we’ll experience.

In this week’s podcast, author and speaker Barb Roose and I talk about how to replace control with surrender. It’s something we ALL need to learn how to do!

Barb helps us identify things we may be doing that we don’t recognize as controlling behaviors

Excessive planning or stockpiling

In this episode, we explore six steps for letting go:

  1. I am an not in control of others or outcomes.
  2. I choose to live by faith, not rush to follow my feeling.
  3. I can always let go and give my problems to God.
  4. Trusting God’s promises will bless me, but pushing my plans will stress me.
  5. When fear tempts me to flee, fix, or force my way, I will choose to stop and pray.
  6. Surrender is my only path to God’s peace, power, and provision.

I learned so much in this conversation and I know you will too! You can listen to it wherever you listen to podcasts or online here.
