Life is full of ups and downs. Each one of us will experience difficult seasons in life. During my darkest and most difficult season, one of the things I learned to say is “It is not well with my circumstances, but I want to make sure it is well with my soul.”

My guest, Courtney Joseph Fallick, experienced this as well when her high school sweetheart husband left their marriage for another woman. She found herself fighting for joy and working to overcome the darkness.

Courtney is a best-selling author and the founder of Women Living Well Ministries and Good Morning Girls. Courtney is also a great speaker who has been featured on The Rachael Ray Show and many national conferences including Hearts at Home. She’s been blogging through the Bible, one chapter per day, since 2014 and she makes her home in Ohio with her blended family.

In this episode, you’ll hear:

  • More about the dark season of life Courtney walked through
  • How to keep bitterness and resentment from building up
  • How to respond when it feels like God’s ignoring our prayers
  • And so much more!

I hope this episode offers you confidence, support, and hope for the future!

My Key Takeaways:

1) The world is a broken place. When bad things or dark seasons enter our life, it can feel like life isn’t fair or that this shouldn’t be happening to us. However, bad things can still happen to godly people. In this world, we will have trouble and we should expect it as the world is deeply broken and in need of a Savior.

2) We need to learn how to trust God with just today. When we are in the midst of a dark season of life, it can feel like there is no hope and that things will never get better. Instead of worrying about next week, two weeks from now, or a year from now, begin by trusting God with just today. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by our current circumstances and like there is no way out, but God has not abandoned us!

3) Root yourself in truth. Our emotions can lie to us. They can tell us that God doesn’t hear us or even that He doesn’t care. However, Scripture tells us that God is for us and hears our prayers! It’s normal to feel like God doesn’t hear our prayers, but it’s important that we remind ourselves of the truth. He cares for you. He mourns with us. He loves us and is with us.
